Back, neck and shoulders massage

Studio session

If your shoulders seem to spend most of their time somewhere near your ears, this one’s for you.

This focused session gives extra attention to the areas where tension often gathers: the upper back, shoulders, around the shoulder blades and the neck.

We’ll use a mix of flowing massage, kneading, compression and more detailed work where it feels useful. Pressure can be gentle, firm or somewhere in between - you don’t need to tolerate anything just because you booked a massage.

This may be a good fit if you:

  • spend a lot of time at a desk or computer

  • drive regularly

  • feel tight or stiff through your shoulders and upper back

  • carry bags, equipment or children

  • want a shorter, focused session

  • are looking for regular maintenance between longer appointments

  • are new to massage and want to start with something simple

What can we work on?

The session will usually focus on:

  • upper and mid-back

  • shoulders

  • around the shoulder blades

  • back and sides of the neck

If time allows and it makes sense for you, we can also include some work on the lower back, arms or upper chest.

Your body. Your session.

You can ask for more pressure, less pressure, more time on one area or none at all. You can chat, stay quiet, pause or change your mind at any point.

This is a wellbeing treatment rather than a medical assessment. If you’re dealing with persistent headaches, neurological symptoms or unexplained neck pain, it’s best to seek appropriate medical advice.

Your first appointment starts with a quick chat so we can understand what you need, what you’re comfortable with and anything relevant to your treatment.

No performance. No guessing. No need to know the “right” massage language.

During your treatment

You’ll have privacy to undress to your level of comfort and you’ll stay appropriately covered throughout. Only the area being worked on will be uncovered.

Before we begin, we’ll agree:

  • the areas you’d like worked on

  • anything you’d prefer us to avoid

  • your preferred pressure

  • a position that feels comfortable

  • what you’d like from the session

You can ask for more pressure, less pressure, a different position, a different area or a complete stop at any point.

And no, you do not have to make conversation.

Quiet is always welcome.

Massage should feel like something being done with you, not to you.

After your treatment

You may notice some mild tenderness or increased awareness in areas that have been feeling particularly tight.

It should never feel severe.

If anything feels sharp, unpleasant or difficult to tolerate during the treatment, tell us. We’d much rather adjust than have you grit your teeth and hope for the best.

Afterwards, gentle movement and regular breaks from long periods of sitting can help you hold on to that sense of ease a little longer.
